Director, District Support Services
Ms. Marla Blackledge has had a successful 33-year long career in school district business management, both as a classified employee and district administrator. Using her experience, knowledge and technical skills, Ms. Blackledge offers our clients coordination of fiscal services, including budget development and management, position control, internal controls, accounting, interim and annual reports, year-end closing, and business services related to special programs.
Ms. Blackledge has served as a business manager for the Buckeye Elementary School District; Director of Fiscal Services for the Gateway Unified School District; Director of External Fiscal Services for the Shasta County Office of Education; and, most recently, as the Chief Financial Officer for the Novato Unified School District. Ms. Blackledge has worked in many positions of responsibility in different areas of school district management. As part of her work related to facilities and district operations, she has managed general obligation bonds and parcel tax receipts, facility funding, charter school services, nutrition services, and services related to maintenance, operations, and transportation.
Her ability to communicate complex fiscal information in a clear and concise manner has helped build trust between the district, board, unions, and community. Ms. Blackledge is knowledgeable, and accurate, and excels in completing tasks with accuracy under short time constraints and challenging circumstances. Some examples of her accomplishments would include her lead role in a successful unification process, SACS implementation as a Pilot One county, training small school district staff and school boards, closing schools due to declining enrollment, and leaving her last district with a large reserve in order to survive the current economic crisis.
Ms. Blackledge holds a number of certificates including Chief Business Official certification by the California Association of School Business Officials.
