Paul Burkhart

Mr. Paul Burkart most recently served as the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services in the Fountain Valley School District in Orange County, CA.  Before retirement, he previously was the Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Services in the Anaheim City School District. In these roles, he was responsible for all the business, finance and operational aspects of the districts, including fiscal services, purchasing, facilities and construction programs, maintenance services, transportation and the student nutrition program in both districts. Mr. Burkart instituted several innovative programs that increased non-traditional revenue sources designed to ensure fiscal stability, while maintaining and expanding programs and resources for schools and students.

Mr. Burkart began his career as an elementary and middle school teacher, followed by many years as a successful assistant principal, principal and district level administrator.  After retirement Mr. Burkart taught school for two years at Chiang Mai International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Mr. Burkart is currently an Assistant Professor at California State University, Fullerton where he teaches classes in the University Administrative Services credential programs in school finance and school law. He has served on several county-wide and state fiscal advisory committees, including a county committee on the escalating cost of special education and implementation of a new funding model. He has served in leadership roles in multiple professional organizations, such as the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California Leadership Academy.  In 1998 he was named Administrator of the Year for ACSA, region 17.

Mr. Burkart received his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and his Master of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco.
